T-shirt Scarf!

Standard

I have started to become obsessed with the website, http://www.pinterest.com. It is a great website to get ideas on different areas of your life. While looking through the website, I found an awesome way to save money. Make your own scarf with a t-shirt.

Scarfs can be pretty expensive, and sometimes hard to find. I loved this idea because there are times that I have an outfit in mind, but can’t find a scarf to match the image I have. I love the fact that you can get any color shirt and make your image of your outfit come to life.

This week is going to be fantastic. I can just feel it. Exciting opportunities like my interview for the advertising competition team at Oklahoma State University to being able to pick up my adorable new puppy.

There are so many emotions flowing through me, it seems hard to control. When it comes to a busy week, with exciting events, you have to learn how to schedule and obtain a schedule. Here are a few steps I take in controlling a busy schedule:
1. Write everything I have to do on one page
2. Write everything I have due that week for school on another page
3. Make another list of the days and times I have available.
4. Finally put all the lists together, and have a detailed agenda that is sure to get the job done.

Everyone one is different, so I am not saying this is guaranteed to work, but hey, you never know.

Have a great week everyone!

Coming into this class, the only programs I knew how to use were Microsoft Word and PowerPoint. I felt throughout the semester I have learned how to use Photoshop, Garage Band, and iMovie. As well as knowing how to code a website and make a mock-site. Of course I have learned how to make a blog and use WordPress. I learned how to organize a Podcast and record one with a group. I have used the skill I have learned in this class already this semester and I plan to use the programs I have learned out in the future.

At the beginning I wrote about learning about blogs and how to use them. I know all about how to organize and write a blog thanks to your lessons on WordPress and writing blogs. I wish I had learned more about Photoshop just because I like playing with pictures, and seeing how much you can do with one simple image. I thought that everything else was a good amount of time for learning. There is always more you want to learn and you want more time to practice, but a semester is only so long. I thought iMovie was one of the easier programs that we did. I was afraid that it was going to be difficult to make a commercial, and add effects. I would not change the project that we did throughout the semester, even if they got a little frustrating sometimes, they made you learn hands on, which is the best way I learn.

I thought that you were a great teacher. I know that we goofed around and gave you a hard time sometimes, but it was all out love. You showed us a whole lot this semester. I hope were your favorite class because yours was one of mine! 🙂

A Portfolio Website

Standard

I thought this website had a unique layout. Let’s start with the header of the page. I liked how the navigation tools are down the top right of the page. I do not have a lot of information to give at the point about my, so having a big header is appropriate for my page. The design of the header is nice, with the frayed edges and picture. I know in class we saw a web page of a guy who really liked himself and had big pictures on his entire page. Well, I think that the size of this picture is a good size, not too big or too little. Since I am an Advertising student, I think this is a good set-up.

We discussed in class how we could make the idea and layout of how we would want our website to be then possibly use it in the future, I plan to use this website when I start my job and create projects. I like how this layout focuses on the latest news and projects you have done. Being in Advertising, you are always doing different projects for clients making this a doable site.

The footer is a great way to always be able to go to a different part of the site. The grey scale it has is a good way to kind of put it in the background of the page, leaving the focus where it needs to be. I like how it is focused on two color scales, but I might change the blue to something else, since blue is a popular color, I would want to make it more unique and more me.

All in all, I really like the layout of this page. I believe it focuses on the appropriate information and designs. The navigation on the top and bottom make it easy to get around the site.

Making up Blog #9 (Free-write)

Christmas is my favorite time of the year. The music and spending time with family is two of my favorite parts. The presents aren’t bad either. 😉 This year is the first year I did not get to decorate the tree with my family. It was sad to think I wasn’t able to continue the tradition with them this year.

Enough of the sad stuff, SANTA’S COMING! My 3-year-old sister is so excited to go visit Santa, and get all the princess toys she is asking for. When Christmas time is near, Santa is great way to remind Chloe that you have to be good. She might start to do something she isn’t supposed to do, and all you have to say is, “Santa is watching, you better be good.” Works every time!

This Christmas is going to be great because Chloe is fun now, and it’s not just the adults giving gifts to each other. I can’t wait to go home and spend the holidays with my family!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to everyone!

My Baby Sister!

Standard

My family is unique, yet special to me. It is my mom, dad, me and my 3-year-old sister. It is more common to have a step-parent in the family when there is a gap in age between the siblings. That is what makes my family different.

My mom was not to have any more children. So her being pregnant was a shock to everyone, even the doctors. My grandmother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and passed away the same week that my mother found out that she was pregnant. She was such an amazing grandmother, so we named my sister after her, Chloe Jo. I was a junior in high school when my sister was born. I guess I did not really know what to expect. I have been around babies before but never thought I would have one as a sister. When I tell people that I have a 3-year-old sister, people are always shocked and ask how we do it. Well that answer is simple, we just do. Now, I am not saying that it was easy because times were tough, but we always make it work.

When I was growing up, I was daddy’s girl. Not just daddy’s girl, but the one girl in my whole family. On both sides of my family, there are only boy cousins. So life wasn’t too shabby being the only girl. Growing up I always wanted a sibling, like a little sister I could dress up and play with. I never expected it to be when I was sixteen years old, and neither did my family. At first I didn’t know what to think when it came to not being the only girl. Would she do all the daddy daughter things that I did with my dad. That idea disappeared pretty quickly when I met her! She as my sister and I didn’t care, she was amazing.

When you have a best friend, you have a bond with them. You might call your best friend your sister, or maybe your other half. Growing up as the only child, I had many “sisters,” but never a real one. When you have a real sister, it is like a different relationship; a better one. I could not imagine out family without Chloe. We would be incomplete without her. Four musketeers is a lot better than three musketeers in my opinion.

I can’t wait until Chloe is old enough to really need me as her friend, to call me up when she is having boy trouble, or just needs to talk. It is going to be so amazing when I am her go-to girl. One of my favorite things Chloe says right now is when she says, “I love you sissy,” and it’s out of the blue. You can’t help but smile and get so happy when a 3-year-old lets you know how much she cares. She is a wonderful part of our family, and I would never change anything about her; she is one of a kind.
